Dr. Swarup Kumar Ghosh is a Professor in the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, West Bengal. He holds B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees in Metallurgical Engineering and has over 28 years of combined teaching and research experience, along with 1.5 years of industrial exposure. He also completed a prestigious postdoctoral program at POSTECH, South Korea, focusing on the novel δ-TRIP phenomenon in steels. Dr. Ghosh’s research interests primarily include structure–property correlations in steels, microalloyed and advanced high-strength steels, thermomechanical processing, phase transformations, heat treatment, and materials design for industrial applications. He has published more than 90 papers in SCI/Scopus-indexed journals and over 30 international conference papers, and has guided numerous UG, PG, and Ph.D. scholars. He has authored several book chapters and edited international books on advanced and sustainable materials. Dr. Ghosh has led multiple sponsored research and consultancy projects in collaboration with leading industries and research institutions, particularly in the iron and steel sector. His academic excellence has been recognized through several national and international awards, including Best Paper Awards, Young Faculty Research Award, and service milestone honors. Through sustained research, teaching, and industry collaboration, he continues to make significant contributions to metallurgy and materials engineering.
